A specialized research team from the Marine Science Center at the University of Basra, consisting of researchers Asst. Prof. Dr. Bassam Ashour Rashid and Dr. Ahmed Majeed Zidane, in cooperation with a monitoring team from the Basra Environment Directorate, participated in conducting a comprehensive environmental survey of the coastal area in Khor Al-Zubair and Umm Qasr. This survey comes within the framework of efforts aimed at assessing the current environmental status of the region and developing sustainable environmental management strategies. This fruitful cooperation resulted in a set of important recommendations, which will contribute to developing future action plans to improve air quality.
