A teacher at the Marine Sciences Center at the University of Basra publishes a scientific article
Professor Dr. Murtada Dabij Nasser published a scientific article in cooperation with a group of Italian researchers entitled “The State of Art of the Global Distribution of the Invasive Mytilid Species Brachidontes pharaonis P. Fischer, 1870” in the magazine Diversity with an impact factor of 2.1 and Scopus Q2, which is published by Dar Swiss publishing MDPI.
The article includes a study on the species complex of the invasive oyster Brachidontes pharaonis. The article explains that the range limits of the species complex B. pharaonis are still unclear and that the species should be analyzed in a wider geographic area. Records of B. pharaonis from Southeast Asia should be treated with caution because this region is outside its range. B. variabilis, which consists of two possible mysterious species, is endemic in the Indo-Pacific. Data from the sources therefore highlight the importance of an integrative taxonomic approach to resolve various issues related to complex species assemblages and morphological variations of species.
