In the presence of the President of the University of Basra, Professor Dr. Saad Shaheen Hammadi, the Marine Sciences Center at the University of Basra organized the annual evaluation conference for the year 2023 and under the slogan “Continuous evaluation is a guide to scientific sobriety.” The conference aims to adopt the general policy of the University of Basra and the Ministry of Higher Education in order to advance the scientific reality of the country and strive To make scientific research the way to maximize resources and provide the material requirements necessary to sustain it, work to provide services to the community in various fields, whether scientific or awareness-raising and cultural, in order to achieve the concept of the university’s role in serving the community.
In addition to establishing scientific partnerships, whether with universities or various state departments, to exchange experiences, develop skills, and achieve greater achievements.
The Center also seeks to develop medium-term strategic programs and plans, as the strategic scientific plan was the plan (2019-2023), which relies mainly on general research lines that are shared between the various scientific departments. It also seeks leadership and excellence in publishing solid scientific research in many areas. The scientific fields adopted by the six scientific departments of the center, as well as setting the rules for documented scientific data on the Iraqi marine environment, which constitute the starting point for protecting the environmental capabilities of the water resources available in the country.
It is concerned with developing the skills of its members by raising their academic level and field and scientific expertise
And keep pace with scientific and technological development and the requirements of academic standards to occupy a competitive position locally and regionally. It works to develop its research cadres to enhance the quality of scientific research outputs in various environmental fields and spread environmental awareness in the field of the marine environment and ways to preserve aquatic resources.
The conference included a presentation of the center’s achievements, the scientific plan, statistics for the teaching staff and employees, and the number of research papers published in the scientific plan and published in international libraries for the last four years. It was also presented The external projects and participation of researchers in international conferences were also presented, and the number of books written was also discussed, in addition to the projects of the Center’s advisory office. At the end of the conference activities, certificates were distributed by the University President to the distinguished professors and employees at the center.
