The University of Basra participated in the third conference of the Ministry of Environment, which was held in Baghdad under the auspices of the Minister of Environment on environmental issues, in the presence of the Director General of the Marine Sciences Center, Professor Dr. Shaker Ghaleb Ajeel, Professor Dr. Abdel-Zahra Abdel-Rasoul Al-Helu, Dr. Zainab Jawdat, and Assistant Lecturer Zainab Fadel.
Regarding the participation of the University of Basra, Dr. Shaker said that our participation included discussing the issues of desertification and water salinity in Basra

There was also a presentation of the Basra Network’s research regarding the salinity and scarcity of water, the discussions and dialogues included in the presentation, and the treatment plan for that problem with the participation of the attendees. A study was also presented on monitoring and measuring pollution and salinity to benefit from it in measuring pollution through an electronic network.
The conclusion of the conference included discussing everything related to environmental issues, presenting proposals and recommendations to solve and address those issues, and requesting support for those issues. The recommendations will be submitted to the concerned authorities.
