 The Department of Marine Physics at the  Marine Science Centre at the University of Basrah organized a lecture entitled (Some Concepts of Meteorology) presented by Prof. Dr.
 Abdul Halim Ali Hussein Al Mohyi has explained that meteorology is of great importance as it is the science that examines the characteristics of the atmosphere and the phenomena and conditions that occur in it as a result of the interaction between land, water (seas and oceans) and air, and the interpretation of its causes and the extent of its impact on various aspects related to human activity.  Surface weather monitoring and the upper layers of the atmosphere were discussed, manual weather forecasting was explained, numerical analysis, and errors were identified and the reason for their occurrence in the weather forecasting process.  The Coriolis force and how it works in the atmosphere are also explained.
